About Finley Sutton
Finley Sutton writes the kind of books he wishes he'd had at nine, the ones where getting things wrong
is the whole point, and every mistake is a lead worth chasing. He grew up convinced that if something could
go sideways, it eventually would, and somewhere along the way he decided that was good news: a jammed
zipper, a spilled lunch, a plan gone wrong are all just training in disguise.
That idea became the Murphy's Law Training Academy — a series that hands kids real, usable skills
wrapped in the chaos of everyday life. Finley's books treat readers as capable people in training, never
as problems to be managed. The tone is playful and a little mischievous, but the skills underneath are
genuine: how to think under pressure, how to fix what broke, how to laugh and try again.
He believes the best learning happens when nobody feels lectured, when a kid is having too much fun to
notice they've just picked up something that will serve them for years. Every chapter is built to be
done, not just read, with room for a grown-up to join in when a mission calls for it.
Finley writes for Whetwise Press, where the whole idea is to sharpen minds of every age. His corner of it
is for the youngest sharpeners, the ones who ask “what if” a hundred times a day and deserve a
hundred good answers.
